PRODUCTION DESIGN
Uno Dos Music Video
Artist: ¿téo? Feat Jaden Smith
Director Esteban Arango approached me to help him design the aesthetics of this music video. His visual concept called for a space that combined a warm bossa nova mood with the mysterious tone of the story he wanted to create. The song was immediately evocative of mid-century aesthetics that Brazil is so well known for, but the challenge was in how to create a space that fit his criteria without breaking the modest budget. With those guidelines, I established a color palette that informed all the key visual elements that would come together in the final product: cinematography, wardrobe, and set dressing. With those clear guidelines, I set out to find a location that had the right architecture, furniture, and that provided the flexibility to accommodate all the different settings of the story within the same location. I looked far and wide and eventually found the perfect A-frame cabin in Big Bear, California, that allowed the production to combine the rustic feel of a mountain retreat with the sleek mid-century design the director was looking for. Having found the right canvas for the project, we dressed it with lived in accessories and mood lighting throughout to create an intimate look. Take a look at the video below. I hope you enjoy it!
